The Mississippi River always swells above flood stage in Baton Rouge to mark the beginning of Spring, and I go out there every year to get a picture of it. The river is at 44' in these pictures which isn't the highest it's ever been, but falls somewhere in the top 10.

I was walking around downtown Baton Rouge right after sunset when some dark rain clouds started to move in. The lights on the River Center looked perfect in that light, so I ran to my car and got my camera gear. I was able to set up and shoot a few frames before it started raining.

The best view of sunset in Baton Rouge is on the Mississippi River levee. You can always find people walking along the Riverwalk to enjoy the view.
