Flooding, fog, and rain from a very wet January in Baton Rouge.  These shots are of the flooded air field at the Red Stick R/C Club on Burbank Dr, fog and rain on the Mississippi River, and the Louisiana State Capitol partially covered in fog.

These four shots of a foggy Baton Rouge sunrise were taken from the West Baton Rouge side of the river.  The first two of the skyline are from the Riverwalk in Port Allen, the third is from the side of the road near the Port of Greater Baton Rouge, and I snapped the last shot as I was driving over the bridge on my way back into town.

These images of the Iberville Building, Bienville Building, and One American Place in Downtown Baton Rouge were taken over a two day period.    I went to this location with the intent of capturing cloud motion with long exposure shots.  The weather cooperated with me somewhat on the first day, but not at all on the second day.  There was so much cloud cover on the second day that the sky was mostly gray and I wasn't able to capture any movement.  I did get a shot of an unusual brown ring in the clouds on my second day out.  The pictures are displayed in order of exposure time.

A few images from a recent outing near the Louisiana State Capitol.  The first shot was taken near the entrance to the Kansas City Southern Railway, and the second two were in front of State Capitol Park at the corner of Spanish Town Rd & Fourth St.

Yesterday's trip to the BREC Botanic Gardens made me have to work a little harder than usual.  There's not much in bloom right now, and some of the beds had very little to offer.  I still managed to walk away with a couple of decent shots.

Since I wasn't finding much variety during this trip, I decided to change my focus a bit and grab a couple of abstract shots to use for wallpaper on my computer.

Opening night at the Greater Baton Rouge State Fair was Thursday, October 25, 2012.  I went to the fair pretty regularly as a kid, but probably have not been in over 20 years.  Thursday's weather was nice, there were lots of clouds in the sky, and it looked like it was going to be a nice sunset.  I wanted to take some long exposure shots of the rides just as it was starting to get dark so decided to take advantage of the weather.  Turnout was pretty good for a Thursday night.

The Great Mississippi River Balloon Race was this past weekend in Natchez, Mississippi.  I planned to drive to the Vidalia side of the Mississippi River and watch the balloons launch behind the twin bridges.  It was a nice day with clouds in the sky, and the river with the bridges would have made a great setting for some hot air balloon shots.  Unfortunately, it was too windy for the balloons to fly, and the afternoon flights were cancelled.  Still wanting to make the best of my 2 hour drive, I stuck around until sunset and took a few shots of the bridges and the river.
